An Arkansas State Trooper was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Little River County Thursday afternoon while responding to a crash in Sevier County.
According to the Arkansas State Police, Corporal Clayton McWilliams, 32, was traveling north on Highway 71 Near Wilton, AR around 12:50 p.m. Thursday while responding to a log truck rollover in Sevier County when he reportedly lost control of his patrol vehicle during heavy rainfall, left the road and struck a tree.
According to the State Police, Corporal McWilliams was transported to a Texarkana hospital and later transferred to a Little Rock hospital for assessment of his injuries and a higher level of care.
The State Police say they believe the heavy rain in the area at the time contributed to the cause of the crash.
According to the Little River Sheriff’s Office a fundraiser for Corporal McWilliams and his family will be held Saturday, January 12 at the Arden Community Building starting at 5 p.m. to help with expenses related to his crash.
There will be a chili supper followed by an auction. The supper’s are purchased via donation.
