Two Injured in N. Hervey Crash

Both drivers were injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash on North Hervey near the interstate.

At around 8 a.m. Friday, Alice Adams, of Hope, was traveling south across the I-30 overpass on Hervey in her Buick Verano as Rhonda Seward was approaching Hervey on the eastbound exit ramp of I-30 in her Chevrolet Silverado. According to accounts given at the scene, Seward entered Hervey from the exit ramp into the path of Adams as she came off the bridge. Adams’ Buick struck the driver side of Seward’s Silverado, breaking the front wheel off the truck and causing Adams’ car to veer across northbound traffic, over the curb and into the boggy ditch.

Hope Police Department, Pafford EMS, Arkansas State Police and Hope Fire Department responded to the scene. Officers closed down northbound lanes and alternated traffic through the scene until Reese’s Wrecker could clear the Silverado out of the road.

As her husband looked on, medics and firefighters stabilized Adams, carefully removed her from her car and carried her on a spine board to the ambulance waiting up on the road. One Pafford crew transported Seward to Wadley Regional Medical Center in Hope. Adams was transported by the second crew to Cristus Saint Michael Health System in Texarkana.

Officer Gammage investigated the crash. No citations were issued at the scene.

*Special thanks to the firefighters of the Hope Fire Department who extricated an unnamed photographer from the quagmire when they were done assisting the injured.
