A dispute between family members in Blevins reportedly turned violent Saturday resulting in one man being transported to the hospital for a stab wound.
According to Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton, Deputy Jim Bush was on patrol in the area around Oak St. in Blevins when he was flagged down by a man who appeared to have blood running down his right arm.
Deputy Bush reported that when he made contact with the man, later identified as Tavis Jones, of Blevins, he said that his uncle had stabbed him. Deputy Bush reported observing a stab wound near Tavis’ collar bone that appeared to go downward into his chest.
Bush requested Pafford EMS. The crew treated Tavis’ wound and transported him to Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana.
Deputy Bush then made contact with Tavis’ uncle, Albert Jones, who Tavis had accused of stabbing him, and took him into custody without incident. Jones was transported to the Hemsptead County Detention Center and booked for domestic battery 1st degree.
