FAYETTEVILLE — Postseason excitement turned to disappointment Thursday as the TCU Horned Frogs upset the University of Arkansas 82-78 in the third round of the Women’s Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
In a tight game that saw the UA women lead much of the first half and into the second, the two teams were tied 68-68 in the final 4:30 of the contest.
But, TCU seized the lead from there, and held an 80-76 advantage with nine seconds left. UA’s Alexis Tolefree made two free throws to narrow the contest to 80-78, but with time running out and forced to foul, the Razorbacks watched helplessly as TCU made its free throws to capture an 82-78 win on the road.
The UA women’s basketball team finished their 2018-19 season with a 22-15 record.
