Westerman Statement on Republicans’ “Commitment to America”

WASHINGTON – Today, Leader Kevin McCarthy and the House Republican Conference introduced their “Commitment to America,” a policy platform to create An Economy That’s Strong, A Nation That’s Safe, A Future That’s Built on Freedom, and A Government That’s Accountable.

Mr. Westerman released the following statement:

“Since President Joe Biden’s first day in office, America has watched as he and Congressional Democrats hastened our economic instability, and allowed shelves to go bare, communities to be ravaged by crime, and savings to evaporate,” said Westerman. “Democrats control the House, the Senate, and the White House, but they’ve done nothing to address the true financial pain that Americans experience every day or take responsibility for making that pain worse. Republicans have a plan to fix the crises created by the Democrat majority.

President Biden has sarcastically asked, ‘what are Republicans for?’ Well, Mr. President, this is our Commitment to America: We will fight inflation, bring back American energy independence, strengthen the supply chain, protect parents’ rights in schools, secure the border, support law enforcement, lower health care costs, and rein-in government overreach. Republicans have already written bills to advance each of these priorities, including the ‘Securing American Mineral Supply Chains Act’ that I helped author and will push in the next Congress. I am proud to support the Commitment to America and help ensure a government that works for its people again.”
