William “Bill” Hampton Byrd, Jr

William “Bill” Hampton Byrd, Jr. of Hope, passed away Monday, November 21 at his home. Bill was born July 15, 1941 in Portales, New Mexico to William H. Byrd, Sr and Tommie Lee Epting Byrd.

Bill was a real estate owner/broker at Hope Realty, a Real Estate Agency established by his parents in the mid 1960’s. He was a longtime member of the Hope Lions Club and loved to serve his community. Bill was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Hope.

Bill was full of life and boisterous laughter; on any given day, one could always recognize him by his infamous whistling. He always gave his opinion or advice whether you wanted it or not, and he was usually right. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, tending to his various plants, trees and taking his mower for a spin every chance he got. He loved his family and friends, his dog Bonnie, his cat Ruffy and spending time with his church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years, Norma Jean Tye Byrd, and his brother Jim Byrd.

Bill is survived by children; son, John Byrd from Hope, daughter Kristy (Scott) Murch from Bentonville, AR. Grandchildren Jessi (Zach) Zbylut from Springdale, AR and Ashley (Keeten) Jones from Canehill, AR. One Great Granddaughter, Elliott Zbylut. His sister-in-law Lynda Tye Wright (Ed Thaxton) from Hope. Three nieces, Bren (Jody) Yocom, Shelly (Christopher) Short and Marissa (Layne) Wilson, all from Hope and one nephew Jason (Karrie) Wright from Maumelle, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 3, with visitation at 1:00 pm and services at 2:00 p.m. at Brazzel Oakcrest, 1001 South Main St. Hope, Arkansas 71801
