In the first matchup of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in women’s basketball, it was the Razorbacks that came out the winner, 86-53, in a game played Saturday afternoon at North Little Rock’s Simmons Arena.
Leading the way for No. 21 Arkansas (11-1) were Alexis Tolefree and Chelsea Dungee, who both finished with 21 points each. For Tolefree, who starred at Conway High School, it was a rare chance to show her skills in front of a largely hometown crowd of 5,540 fans.
Dungee also led Arkansas with 8 rebounds, and passed 1,000 points in her career as well, while A’Tyanna Gaulden added 15 points to finish in double figures.
For UALR and coach Joe Foley, they have struggled to a 2-8 record. Angelique Francis led the squad with 15 points. Kyra Collier, who had a memorable high school career at North Little Rock, and was an all-conference performer last season, was held to just 8 points.
Arkansas takes Christmas off and will return to action on Dec. 29 when they host Tennessee-Martin in a game that will tip at 2 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena.
