It’s Rendezvous time again! The Nevada County Depot & Museum (Depot) and the Early Arkansaw Reenactors Association (EARA) are hosting this trip through time. Visitors will get a historically accurate picture of life in Arkansas prior to 1840 thanks to reenactors in period clothing using only the tools and supplies available in the early 19th century. There will be demonstrations highlighting traditional craftsmanship and skills in addition such as weaving, flint knapping, and knife throwing. The event is open to the public on October 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Prairie D'Ane sits on 800 acres located at 2243 Highway 19 North in historic Prescott, Arkansas and is easily accessible near exit 44 on I-30. This National Register site was the location of a 4 day battle in April 1864 during the Civil War. The Prairie is maintained by the Nevada County Depot and Museum, which hosts reenactments and other living history events at the location year round.
Upcoming events scheduled for Prairie D’Ane in 2024 include Eclipse on the Prairie, an opportunity to view the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse surrounded by nature.
