Nutt was with former Arkansas Razorback player David Johnson and appeared to have a one-track mind as he chose one melon at a time. He was asked what brought him to town today.
“Well, this goes way back to David Johnson, my man. And he used to take watermelons from Hope, which I love, hope watermelon, and take them and come feed my Razorbacks during the hot days of August. This was always a tradition. Now that I've been visiting my mom, I'm coming back through. So who do I call? I call my man because I think about these watermelons. So I can't wait. I'm a big watermelon man,” Nutt said.
Video of the interview can be seen below the photos.
Nutt said he and Johnson had just enjoyed a meal at Sheba's. He comes in to Hope about three to four times a year.
Gonzalez said this year’s crop is slightly better than last year’s, yielding about 3,000 watermelons so far.
