Baldwin & Shell Construction Appoints Bobby Gosser As New President And CEO

Baldwin & Shell Construction Company Board of Directors has named Bobby Gosser as President and CEO of the company, effective January 1, 2022.

Gosser’s board appointment, from President of the Central Arkansas Division to President and CEO, has been part of the company’s succession plan for several years. So the timing couldn’t be better with Baldwin & Shell celebrating their 75th year in business and working toward the century mark.

Patrick Tenney, Executive Board Member, and Company Treasurer, shared his thoughts about Gosser’s appointment, “I’ve felt for a long time that Bobby’s career path within the company has been pointing to this destination. It’s the right time, and his character, leadership skills, and experience will serve the next generation of our company very well.” Bobby began his 35 long-year career with Baldwin & Shell when the late Bob Shell recruited Gosser away from the nationally-based Pickens-Bond Construction Company. Gosser has worked in various capacities in the company, including Estimator, Project Coordinator, Project Manager, Division Manager, Vice President, Division President, and President-Elect.

Gosser made his mark in the company and industry when Bob Shell promoted him to division manager and created a new division within the company, the Construction Services Division, which became a significant portion of the company’s portfolio of customers and company growth. In 2013, Gosser managed the company’s strategic plan, which was the catalyst to the company taking on new growth, and in 2014 was promoted to President of the Central Arkansas Division. Under his leadership, the division quickly became the largest division in the company, attributing to the record growth in 2018 to over $300 million.
When asked about his new leadership role, Gosser said, “I am prepared and excited to work alongside the company’s board of directors while continuing to provide top-quality, cost-effective construction projects for current and future customers.”

Jim Minor, Vice President/Board of Director and Company COO, commented, “Bobby’s leadership is the right style at the right time. He is a motivating multiplier of talent who inspires team members to deliver their best. He gives room for the ideas of others. He encourages well thought out implementation, all while capturing the highest standards of construction value for our customers that Baldwin & Shell has been known for over the past 75 years.”
Gosser earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Ouachita Baptist University in 1983 and his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Northeast Louisiana University at Monroe in 1985. He was a member of the National Honorary Scholastic Society and Named “Most Outstanding Graduate .” Additional honors and awards include Awarded Estimator of the Year by the Arkansas Chapter of American Society of Professional Estimators, Recruiter of the Year by the National Organization, ASPE, Awarded Chairman of the Year by Arkansas Chapter of Associated General Contractors, Certification in Healthcare Construction from American Society of Healthcare Engineers, Commercial Environmental Certification with Green Advantage, Certification of Certified Professional Estimator and “40 Under 40” list in Arkansas Business.

Gosser is also involved with the American Society of Professional Estimators, the Associated General Contractors of America Arkansas Chapter, Ford NGL Committee, and is a past member of the MBE Construction Mentoring Program. Community service organizations include North Little Rock Chamber Board Member past Chairman of the Board, Past Young Life Steering Committee Board Member, North Little Rock Rotary, Past Board Member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Heflin Family YMCA, Past Board Member and President of the Board of the Burns Park Athletic Association, Past School Board Member of the North Little Rock School District and an active member of New Life Church.
