Bobcats Fall Short in Season Opener Against Nashville 24-21
Nashville- It was the season opener for Bobcat Football Friday night as they headed into Scrapperland, for a very anticipated matchup. Hope hurt themselves early with some penalties, a would-be pick-six that turned into a Scrapper TD, and a scoop-and-score for Nashville that would lead to an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

The Bobcats would get on the scoreboard as Tyler Patterson found Issac Love for a one-yard pitch and catch for the first Bobcat TD of the season, bringing the score to 14-7 early in the second quarter. Great defensive stands from the Bobcats would keep giving the offense chances to cut into the Nashville lead, but offensive penalties would hinder the Bobcat offense as they could not find their rhythm in the first half. Nashville would take a 14-7 lead into halftime.

Several great displays of Bobcat defense were seen throughout the third quarter and no bigger stand took place than when Nashville had an opportunity to score a TD to extend the lead with a first and Goal from the two yard line, but the Bobcat defense forced a field goal from Nashville to make the score 17-7 Scrappers. Hope would go on a long drive at the end of the third quarter, but a sack would take the Bobcats out of field goal range and the third quarter would end with Nashville up 17-7.

The Bobcats would get the scoring started in the fourth quarter on a 13-Yard TD pass from Tyler Patterson to Zyun Brown. The Brown TD would make the score 17-14 with 7:57 left in the game. What looked like a phantom personal foul penalty on the Bobcats extended the Scrappers' drive late in the fourth quarter. Nashville took advantage of the penalty as they scored a touchdown with less than three minutes remaining to make the score 24-14.

Next, Patterson would lead the Bobcats down the field, tossing a 30-yard pass to Jay Monk to get the ball down to the ten-yard line. Tyler Patterson would avoid the pressure and scamper in the endzone to make the game 24-21 with 42 seconds remaining. The Bobcats did not get the bounce they needed for the on-side kick and Nashville would take a knee to secure the 24-21 win.

A great game from the Bobcats defense allowed just 10 points after the four-minute mark in the 1st quarter. KD Gulley (14) and Jalen Staggers (12) would combine for 26 tackles. Staggers would also have a pass break-up and got after the opposing quarterback all game long. The defense did not allow much through the air and controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game.

Offensively, the Bobcats moved the ball pretty well Friday night but penalties would make it tough for Hope to capitalize. QB Tyler Patterson filled up the stat sheet with 24 completions for 300 yards for two passes for TDs and one rushing TD. Isaac Love had eight receptions for 64 yards and a TD, while Jay Monk had a big second half and finished with five catches for 89 yards. Zyun Brown went five catches for 70 yards including a 13-yard TD.

Tamorrion Lindsey would have a great game out of the backfield with six catches for 77 yards and eight carries for 23 yards, totaling 100 all-purpose yards for Lindsey. KD Gulley would have 15 yards rushing. Kicker Joshua Ramos was 3-3 on PATs. The offensive line played very well Friday night as that group has improved and continues to impress, providing a lot to look forward to from those young men upfront this season. Your Hope Bobcats will travel to Ashdown Friday to take on the Panthers. Kickoff is at 7:30.
