TYLER, Texas, Nov. 22, 2023 – In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) has announced a generous Christmas bonus for its employee-partners. The company will be disbursing special checks amounting to $3.6 million, expressing gratitude to the dedicated individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment throughout the year.

Underlining the company's commitment to its workforce, the Christmas gift checks will be distributed to all employee-partners with at least one year of uninterrupted service. Those with less than one year of service will receive prorated amounts, emphasizing inclusivity. This holiday bonus serves as a tangible recognition of the hard work and dedication exhibited by the BGC team.

Brad Brookshire, Chairman and CEO, expressed the company's sentiments, stating, "These checks are an early Christmas gift to our partners to say 'thank you' once again for all they have done this past year to serve our customers and communities. In addition to the Christmas gift checks, BGC is extending its appreciation to employee-partners through an increased discount available on two purchases this week. This extra perk complements the company's long-standing tradition of valuing its workforce, reflecting the strong values set forth by its founder for the past 95 years.

Founded as a family-owned enterprise, BGC has grown into a regional grocery retail powerhouse with 17,500 employees and more than 205 store locations across four states. The company operates under various banners, including Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, FRESH by Brookshire’s, and Reasor’s, maintaining a legacy of remarkable customer service, clean stores, fresh products, and unwavering community support.

As part of its commitment to community welfare, BGC is hosting the 42nd annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive. Running until December 15, this initiative aims to assist thousands of people in need across the 160-plus communities served by BGC stores. Brookshire’s, Super 1 Foods, Spring Market, and FRESH by Brookshire’s stores are actively collecting non-perishable food items, which will be donated to local service organizations and food pantries for distribution. To further contribute, pre-assembled grab bags of food items are available for purchase and donation, while monetary contributions can be made through scan coupons at checkout. All funds collected will be utilized to purchase additional food items for the drive, ensuring a meaningful impact during the holiday season.
