Although the 10th Annual DMAC Scholarship Tournament scheduled for March had to be cancelled due to COVID-19, the foundation was still able to award scholarships to 19 young ladies from teams that were to compete in the tournament.
The Tournament was started 2011 in memory of former Spring Hill math teacher, Debra McMaster, who was one of 20 people who died tragically in the Albert Pike flood in 2010. The longevity and growth of the tournament illustrates the impact Debra had on her community. Those who knew and loved her have established a legacy in Debra’s name that continues to grow and touch the lives of young women a decade later.
In its initial year, the tournament was able to award two scholarships, but has quickly grown to be one of the largest tournaments in Southwest Arkansas. Thanks to generous sponsors, a senior player from each competing team receives a plaque and a $500 scholarship.
The DMAC Tournament Foundation would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the sponsors that continue to make this tournament possible and so very special.
