The Hope Farmer's Market was once again a success downtown at the HUB this morning, with many coming out to get their fresh fruits and veggies. The Bright Family Farm had squash; crocheted rugs, lettuce, kale, mustard greens, cucumbers and beets by the Bright Family Farm. Carolyn’s Kitchen had freshly baked bread, rolls, cookies and cinnamon rolls. Salinas Farm was there with bright yellow squash, zucchini, onions, potatoes, jalapeno peppers, cucumbers, cabbage, farm fresh eggs, jellies and local raw honey. Fields Farm had an assortment of herb plants, tomato and pepper plants, a variety of flower plants and more. Arnold Farms presented new potatoes, green beans, cabbage, onions, yellow squash, cucumbers and radishes. Silvey Farm showed out with fresh lettuce, radishes, kale, zucchini, squash, green beans, dewberry jelly and farm fresh eggs.
There was also variety of freshly baked goods including: zucchini bread, cinnamon rolls, brownies and chocolate chip mint cookies, along with farm raised beef from Farm on the Hill. Aunt Fern’s Fried Pies had her famous homemade fried pies (apple, chocolate, peach, pecan). The Mint Man displayed his potted chocolate mint and chocolate mint sugar cookies.
The the hospitality table was hosted by The Hempstead County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee this morning with refreshments for all who attended. Hope Farmer's Market is Tuesday from 7 am -11 am downtown at the HUB.
