Flags put up throughout Hope downtown as Veterans Day approaches
Early this morning, Hope city workers set up dozens of U.S. flags throughout downtown. They can be seen along Elm Street, East Second and South Main.

The purpose of the flag placement is to celebrate Veterans Day. In Hope, there will be two days of activities to honor veterans. The first will occur starting at 4:00 p.m. November 10th as a Veterans Day Parade, the first in Hope in 22 years, will roll into downtown.  The second starts at 11:00 a.m. at the old courthouse where a ceremony will take place and afterward a free Lions Club fish fry meal will be served free to veterans and their spouses.  For others a meal is $10.
