Flash Flood Warning for Hempstead, Nevada and Surrounding Counties
UPDATED 12:38 AM - WARNING EXTENDED UNTIL 3:30 AM

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Flash Flood Warning for
Northeastern Hempstead County in southwestern Arkansas
Howard County in southwestern Arkansas
Central Nevada County in southwestern Arkansas
Central Sevier County in southwestern Arkansas

Until 330 AM CDT.

At 1229 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT…Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
drainage and low lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Nashville, Mineral Springs, Dierks, Lockesburg, Blevins, Rosston,
Tollette, Willisville, Ben Lomond, Bluff City, Corinth, Center
Point, Oak Grove, McCaskill, Ozan, Cale, Muddy Fork, Silver Ridge,
Browntown and Provo.

FLASH FLOOD…RADAR INDICATED
EXPECTED RAINFALL…1-3 INCHES IN 3 HOURS

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely.

heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
drainage and low lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…
Hope, Prescott, Emmet, Blevins, Perrytown, Tollette, Fulton,
Washington, Bodcaw, Saratoga, Ozan, McNab, Oakhaven, Sutton,
Bright Star, Red Bluff, Laneburg, Falcon and Millwood.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area.
