Arkansas State Police Special Agents continue to search for witnesses and examine evidence tied to an overnight shooting incident that occurred shortly before 8 PM Thursday (September 3rd) on Interstate 530 (northbound), south of Little Rock (north of Woodson Lateral Road).
Devonta Miller, 19, died after he was struck by gunfire that came from inside a car that had pulled-up alongside the Dodge Charger Miller was riding in as a front seat passenger. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deddrick Childs, 19, the driver of the vehicle carrying Miller and two other passengers, was also struck by gunfire and transported to a Little Rock hospital where he was last reported to be in stable condition.
Derek Parks, 18, and Austin Hunter, 19, passengers in the rear seats of the Charger were also wounded. Parks was last reported to be in critical condition at a Little Rock hospital and Hunter was hospitalized, listed in stable condition.
All of the victims are Little Rock residents.
State Troopers of the department’s Highway Patrol Division initially secured the victim’s vehicle with the dead and wounded and later assisted agents of the Criminal Investigation Division, blocking traffic south of the crime scene, during the recovery and documentation of evidence along the highway.
No suspects have been identified and the investigation is continuing
