HOPE – Open House at Hope Academy of Public Service will be from the convenience and safety of the family vehicle this year.
HAPS Principal Dr. Carol Ann Duke said today the campus will use a “drive-by” approach through the week of Aug. 17-20 for the annual back to school conferences.
“We will not have any sort of face-to-face Open House,” Dr. Duke said. “We will prepare an Open House video on Aug. 6.”
The video will walk HAPS students through the day on campus for the 2020-2021 academic year which begins Aug. 24, will provide information parents need to know, and will be posted on the HAPS website at www.hpsdistrict.org online and Facebook page, Duke said.
HAPS “drive-by” Open House will be based upon assigned times for students. Duke said two grade levels from the grades 5-8 campus will be assigned times for each day, one before and one after lunch, and the specific schedules will be announced prior to Aug. 17.
The bus lane on the Washington Street side of the campus will be utilized for the “drive-by.”
During the “drive-by,” students will be issued:
--Chromebook and charger.
--Headphones.
--Backpack.
--HAPS Handbook.
--Online instructions for Handbook forms.
--First quarter HAPS book.
--Class schedule.
--Staff contact information.
--Three cloth face masks with cleaning instructions.
