Over the past year, the board has discussed the need of the city for a project to add to the quality of life for residents. In the past two years, the city has applied for grant money from the state to fund a splash pad at the Northside Park but has twice been turned down. But other projects citizens may prefer would be welcomed as suggestions tonight.
In a statement today describing what he hopes will come from the meeting, City Manager J.R. Wilson said, “Tonight, we will begin a series of public meetings to help the Board of Directors determine our citizen's desires for a New Hope Fire Department Building and Potential Park Improvements/Updates. Since these types of projects require funding from a sales tax, we will need some time to determine what our citizens desire and what they would support at the ballot box.
“In order to make this determination and potentially get these issues on the November ballot, we need to begin the process now. Over the next few months, we hope to better understand what our citizens think about these possible investments for our community,” Wilson said.
After tomight’s meeting, SWARK.Today will post a description and a video of it.
