For the second year in a row, Hope Haven Assisted Living Community held a Trunk and Treat on Halloween afternoon that allowed residents to dress in costumes or deck out their vehicles to dole out candy to area children showing off their own costumes.
Activity Director Crystal Young was credited by the facility’s administrator Sarah Brown for coming up with the idea of holding the event. “We have little kids coming up now,” Young said. “We just want our residents to participate and pass out candy now instead of so late at night.”
Brown said, “We wanted to be able to let our residents participate in giving the kids candy, because they love seeing them dressed up and having fun.”
Starting just after 2:00 p.m. the kids began coming by one by one and after school let out the numbers of kids in costumes swinging by increased. Most of the kids dressed as TV and movie super heroes.
