Hope Native & Iraq War Veteran Advances in $40 Million World Poker Tour Championship
Hope native and Iraq War veteran Chace McKamie, a former U.S. Marine and father of five, competed against professionals and 730 players in total as an amateur in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship at the Wynn Las Vegas on Wednesday, Dec. 13, and made it through to the next round.

McKamie will battle it out in round two on Saturday, Dec. 16, and is one step closer toward winning a share of the record-breaking $40 million prize pool at the WPT Championship. He earned his seat to the $10,400 buy-in tournament by defeating 1,500 other players on the World Poker Tour app.

  • Served as a machine gunner in the U.S. Marines for four years (2007-2011) 

  • Following his service, McKamie has worked various jobs, including reading electric meters and assisting welders.
  • Attended the University of Arkansas Hope - Texarkana
  • Used to coach and play for a nationally ranked men's slowpitch softball team.
