Hope Watermelon Festival Parade rolled through town late Monday

Young Miss Watermelon Allie Still was a part of Monday's Watermelon Festival Parade.

A procession of floats made their way north on South Main yesterday evening to begin 47th Watermelon Festival week in Hope.

Since it was the eve of the festival's pageant, which takes place at Klipsch Auditorium in City Hall tonight starting at 6:00 p.m., many of yesterday's floats featured last year's pageant winners and, behind them, this year's contestants.

The winning floats for the day were: First place Lynlee Clark, Baby Miss Nevada County; Second place Junior Auxiliary of Hope and Third place Mittie and Steve Harris, who rode in Watermelon costumes on two bicycles.

The parade was broadcast live on the SWARK.Today website with description and commentary by April Lovette and Shelly Short.

A pictorial of the parade in its entirety can be seen below in the order in which the floats appeared.
