Lady Cat Ava Brown Competes at Gulf Coast Nationals with Arkansas Prime
Foley, AL- Lady Cats shortstop Ava Brown traveled to Foley, Alabama this past week to compete in the Gulf Coast Nationals with team Arkansas Prime coached by Eric Plum out of NW Arkansas, as they were looking to leave Alabama with some hardware. Arkansas Prime started off the week 5-0, as they secured a spot in the Championship. MS Elite Gold would knock off Arkansas Prime 3-2 in the Finals. Arkansas Prime displayed a great brand of softball in Foley, as they finished the week with a 5-2 record, and fell just short of a title, as they claimed the Runner-Up trophy at the Gulf Coast Nationals.

Not sporting her usual #8 (as she does for the Lady Cats) this tournament, Ava wore #99 on the back of her jersey this week, and turned into a mini Aaron Judge at the plate. Brown had some big time knocks this past week for her team, including not 1, but 2 walk-off hits. Her second walk-off hit would send Arkansas Prime marching into the championship game. Ava finished the week with a .563 batting average and flashed the leather in the infield, making numerous plays on defense.

Other players that were named for their play this past week were: Jordyn Roberts, who was named Defensive MVP for her excellent play behind the plate. Briley Plum, Zoey Godwin, and Brinley Mills, who put a ball into orbit for a Home-Run. Congratulations on a great tournament.
