When asked what has been a key factor in the success the Lady Jays has had lately, Coach Eddie Beck responded, “They’re buying into what we need to do, defensively limiting our opponents' best players' opportunities, and offensively, we have done a very good job getting into the lane and getting to the free-throw line.”
The Lady Jays are set to face off against Bearden on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. in Nevada. Senior Kadiya Curry described being able to play this game at home. “It feels great. It is nice to know we are going to have our home crowd behind us.” With a win on Tuesday night, the Lady Jays would secure a spot in the Regional Tournament and advance to the District Tournament semi-finals to take on Emerson (Below will be a picture of the bracket).
The Lady Jays have clawed and fought their way back into a great seed that gives them a great opportunity to win and advance on Tuesday. Kadiya Curry has been playing great as of late, scoring the ball and forcing turnovers. Ke’Asia Pearson has definitely been a problem for the opposition this season, as she can score from anywhere and is a force in the paint.
Jordin Haley is a playmaker on the floor, getting teammates involved and is shooting the ball great. Karleigh Carlton has been shooting more recently and the shots are falling, as she is becoming a player opposing teams have to account for. Faith Gibbs and Yasmine Harris have been beyond impressive, especially on the defensive end of the floor, as they have stood up to the task of defending the best players of the opposing team. “Our chemistry has improved a lot as of late and our structure as a team has improved,” KeAsia Pearson said.
The Lady Jays will take the court on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. against Bearden in a win and advance game, so Lady Jays fans should show up, bring the noise and support this group as they have their sights set on a regional tournament berth.
