Lady Saints Win Regional Championship Over Legacy 74-71
Hot Springs Village- The Lady Saints matched up with a familiar foe in Legacy on Saturday evening in the Central Region Championship Game. Following a game in which the Garrett Memorial Christian School offense was not firing on all cylinders, the offense showed up early on Saturday and never let of the gas.

GMCS led 19-15 after the opening quarter and pretty much led the entire game after that. The Lady Saints took a 9-point advantage into the fourth quarter, but Legacy fought back and made it a one possession game. Some big free throws late and a couple of big defensive possessions by the Lady Saints sealed the 74-71 win and granted GMCS the 1-seed in the State Tourney and a first-round bye.

Mikayla Fields and Laikyn Mitchell combined to score 47 points to pace the offense of the Lady Saints. Mikayla had 24 points and fell just 1 assist short of a triple-double as she recorded 13 rebounds and 9 assists. Laikyn had 23 points and added 8 rebounds. Gracy Martin scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and a couple of those shots were from Caitlin Clark range.

Charity Zumwalt had a great all-around game with 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Baylee Pogue played some huge minutes for the Lady Saints on Saturday as she hit a couple of big shots for 4 points, grabbed 5 boards, and dished out 3 assists. Silbi Jones added 2 points and 3 rebounds, while Evan Chambless played great defense all game and added 3 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.

With the win, the Lady Saints are set to play on Thursday night at 7:00 pm.
