Law enforcement runners convey Special Olympics torch through Hope and on to Prescott
This year’s Special Olympics law enforcement torch run came through downtown Hope Tuesday morning starting about 9:30 a.m.  You may have heard the sirens from the vehicles that escorted the runners.

About a dozen members of local law enforcement and fire departments ran from where they were given the 2024 Special Olympics torch on West Highway 67 near Guernsey, came down West Third and took a northern route up Elm Street in Hope, then crossed west to east down Division and turned down South Main.

Finally, the retinue stopped at the Rainbow of Challenges 500 South Main headquarters to get a drink of water, meet with supporters and take pictures.

After about ten minutes, some of the runners got inside the Hempstead County Mobile Office Command Center to continue east on Highway 67 toward Prescott where the torch will be passed to the next runners. The destination of the torch is Searcy, where the Arkansas Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies will begin at Harding University’s First Security Stadium Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
