NONPROFIT LAUNCHES COUNSELING SERVICES IN HOPE

HOPE, Ark., JUNE 23, 2020 – In its 126th year of ministry, Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries is expanding to meet the counseling needs in Southwest Arkansas.

Beginning today, counseling services through the agency’s Living Well Christian Counseling ministries are available in Hope. William Viser, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT, of Arkadelphia will serve as the Hope Clinical Counselor. Viser is also a Professor of Christian Studies at Ouachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia. 

As a professionally-trained, licensed Christian counselor, Viser will minister to individuals, couples and entire families, with a goal to foster hope and healing through therapeutic relationship that is planned and structured. 

At the Hope counseling office, located at First Baptist Church of Hope, Viser will use strategies that have been researched and reviewed with positive outcomes and align with a Christian world-view. Treatments include: depression; anxiety; stress management; conflict resolution; play therapy; parenting support; and couples, premarital, family, grief and foster/adoptive counseling, among others. 

Counseling fees are affordable, thanks to generous Arkansas Baptist donors that allow the agency to offering counseling at a discount rate. A limited number of partial scholarships are awarded based upon financial need.

In addition to the Hope counseling office, Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries operates three family care homes for single mothers in Little Rock, Jonesboro and Springdale; two foster care campuses for children and teens in Monticello and Harrison; and state-wide foster care placement and training, including foster care services in Southwest Arkansas. Counseling services are provided in eight additional locations around the state.
