Razorback Graduate Transfer Charged with DWI

FAYETTEVILLE - A Fayetteville Police report reveals that Razorbacks graduate transfer defensive end Tre Williams was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Williams at 1:11 a.m. Sunday was reported to be found asleep in his vehicle at a McDonald’s drive through  with the vehicle’s motor running.

Since his arrest and release on a $765 bond, senior former Missouri defensive end  Williams has declared he is turning pro for the spring’s 2022 NFL draft and will not play in the Razorbacks’ Jan. 1 Outback Bowl game in Tampa, Fla. against Penn State.

A starter every game for the 8-4 Razorbacks, Williams led the team in sacks, six,  was credited with six quarterback hurries and made 28 tackles.

In his Sunday afternoon tweet announcing he’s turning pro,

Williams posted “With regards to what happened early this morning, I want to apologize for what occurred and not representing the state and logo the way it should be represented which is with pride and honor.  I know that nothing I can say can change what has happened, but as a man I have accepted the consequences and will do better to prove I am not that type of person.  I will always consider this place a second home and wish nothing but then best for this team and for the Razorback Nation.”

Williams joins junior first-team All-SEC receiver Treylon Burks, preparing for the NFL draft, and kickoff man Vito Calvaruso, submitting his name in the transfer portal, as 2021 Razorbacks regular who will not play in the bowl game.
