Razorback Still Number 3

Razorback Still Number 3
FAYETTEVILLE - Returned sandwiching victories over Indiana and the University of Louisiana-Lafayette between a 5-0 loss to Stanford at last weekend’s Karbach Baseball Classic in Round Rock, Texas, Coach Dave Van Horn’s 4-2 Razorbacks return to Baum-Walker Stadium at 3 p.m. today against the University of Nebraska-Omaha leading into hosting Southeastern Louisiana in a 3-game series Friday through Sunday at Baum-Walker.

Arkansas Coach Dave Van Horn seeks his Hogs swinging better bats these next four games than they swung at Round Rock, particularly when stifled by the 3-hit shutout Stanford threw at them.

“You know we’re not playing real good right now,” Van Horn said Sunday night at Round Rock. “It just wasn’t easy today and it started early in the game against Stanford. We’re just not swinging the bats very well. We finally got a big swing there (Battles’ 3-run home run) in today’s second game. Good win to get out of here when we’re not playing that well. We’ve got to get a few things figured out and we’ve got to get our offense cranking.”

Van Horn said third-year sophomore right-hander Mike Adamiak will draw his first career start today against Omaha.

The visiting Mavericks, 2-6, played all eight of their games on the West Coast at San Jose State at UCLA, and at USC.

Beating then No. 21 UCLA marks the Mavericks’ most notable achievement thus far.

Though with two losses, Van Horn’s defending SEC champion Razorbacks rank third nationally by D-1 Baseball.
