Razorbacks Climb Two Spots at Jerry Pate National

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. – For the second straight day, Arkansas posted an even-par round of 280 and moved up two spots into a tie for seventh at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, played at Old Overton Club (par 70, 7,204 yards).

Mason Overstreet (70-69) and Manuel Lozada (69-70) each carded five birdies Monday, and both are tied for 20th, each at 1-under par (139). Both also have 11 birdies through 36 holes – the fourth-best total in the field. Overstreet is thriving on the par 5’s, co-leading the field at -4 on those holes, while Lozada is 2-under on the par 3’s and 2-under on the par 5’s.

Overall, Arkansas continues to trail only Georgia (41) for most birdies with 40.

The Razorback had a pair of eagles on Monday. Tyson Reeder ended his day by holing his second shot on the 494-yard, par-4, 18th from the fairway. Reeder has turned in back-to-back rounds of even-par 70 and is tied for 29th. Julian Perico recorded his team-best fourth eagle of the season with a 3 on the par-5, 16th. Perico is tied for 39th with consecutive rounds of 71.

Segundo Oliva Pinto, who had four birdies in round two, climbed eight spots into a tie for 48th (73-71=144/+4).

Vanderbilt leads the 14-team, All-SEC field at -18, followed by round one leader Georgia (-16), Auburn (-15), Tennessee (-9) and South Carolina (-7).

The third and final round is set for Tuesday.
