Routine Traffic Stop by HCSO  Results in Drug/Weapon Possession Charges

All Information Provided by the Hope Police Department

On May 30, 2020 at approximately 1:41 am, Deputy Kyle Malone conducted a traffic stop at Hempstead 21 and Highway 67 West.    

The driver of the vehicle later identified as, Julio Morales age 38 Of Eldorado, Arkansas.

Deputy Malone discovered loaded .38 caliber revolver in the waist band of Morales pants.  Also discovered were 4 clear plastic baggies containing a brown crystal-like substance, and 1 clear plastic baggy containing a clear crystal-like substance. believed to be methamphetamine, a SKS rifle, various types of live ammunition   a large quantity of unused clear plastic baggies commonly used for packaging drugs, a set of digital scales and 246.35 in Currency.

During the booking process officers located a Camel cigarette pack on Julio's person   Inside the pack was a small white plastic bag containing green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, and a small white hand rolled cigarette. a $20.00 dollar bill on Julio that had a white powdery substance inside it.  

Morales was charged with Possession of Meth / Cocaine with purpose to deliver, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, disobeying a Stop Sign, and Furnishing Prohibited Articles He is awaiting a first court appearance.
