Sam Carter leaving Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE -  Arkansas cornerbacks coach Sam Carter is leaving the Razorbacks to join the Ole Miss Rebels’ staff.

Carter didn’t officially announce he was joining Coach Lane Kiffin’s Rebels staff but his post on Twitter read like it confirmed he’s moving  on.

“Arkansas, It's been a great two years coaching at this prestigious university,” Carter said, individually citing Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek, Coach Sam Pittman and defensive coordinator Barry Odom.  “I will always be grateful for my time here. To Mr. Yurachek, Coach Pittman and Coach Odom, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve and coach our student athletes.”

Carter, a 4-year letterman at TCU from 2011-2014, coached defense as  quality control assistant at Missouri under then Mizzou Coach Odom from 2016-2019, and as fulltime cornerbacks coach came with defensive coordinator Odom to Sam Pittman’s Razorbacks staff in 2020.

If Carter joins Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss staff replacing recently departed cornerbacks coach Terrell Bickley,  Pittman then will be looking for both a cornerbacks coach and a defensive line coach since over the weekend firing defensive line coach  Jermial Ashley.
