Scenes from Jonquil Festival 2024
The 56th Jonquil Festival at Historic Washington State Park finished up as a light rain fell Saturday evening. Many dozens of vendors were on the scene. Tie-dye apparel, wood-carved decor, jellies and jams, lamps, beautiful dashikis, street tacos, salsas and other mementoes could be viewed and bought as the festival schedule proceeded .

The schedule included music and dance performances from its start Friday morning up to the festival's end, with the last performers being hopefuls for the Jonquil Star Singing Contest singing songs by the likes of Zach Bryan. On our visit, the crowds were still thick even as the shadows were lengthening with many families milling around. It was also easy to find the occasional person in 19th century dress, shopping through the vender aisles outside and in the 1940 WPA Gymnasium, a reminder that Washington is where the times mingle.
