Second Hope Farmer's Market of 2023 sells out of vegetables, fruits quickly

Poppy's Pies was among the vendors set up in today's Farmers Market.

Today's Farmer's Market was hosted by Farm Credit of Western Arkansas, which set the hospitality table with cookies, fruit, coffee and brochures from the bank with 25 locations in Arkansas, including one on Hope's 1722 East Third Street.

Cory Dice, Loan Officer for Farm Credit said the market today had been good. "Good weather and pretty good turnout."

Quantas Gulley, the other employee of Farm Credit present, also called the turnout good and said his experience at the hospitality table had been a happy one for "getting to meet good people, being outdoors, getting out of the office, seeing what everybody has to offer."

Organizer of the market, Deana Gilbert commented on the effect of the season on the offerings. "The weather's not cooperating. They're getting produce but not a whole lot at one time."

But as things are, this morning early there was broccoli, squash, potatoes, onions, mixed baby greens, cabbages and radishes. Later in the morning honey, bread, beef and fried pies could still be had.

Demand, meanwhile, is robust. "They're really selling out fast. If you're not here by 7:30, you're probably going to miss out on all the choices."
