Significant Weather Advisory Issued for Southwestern Hempstead and Surrounding Counties

The National Weather Service has issued a significant weather advisory for:
Southeastern Little River
Southwestern Hempstead
Northern Miller
North Central Lafayette
East Central Bowie

UPDATED 11:35 AM -- ALERT EXTENDED UNTIL 12:15 PM

At 11:24 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Richmond, or 7 miles south of Ashdown, moving northeast at 35 mph. Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a significant weather advisory Until 11:30 AM CDT.

At 10:41 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Texarkana, moving northeast at 35 mph. Pea size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include…
Texarkana, Wake Village, Nash, Red Lick, Fulton, Ogden, Mandeville,
Genoa, Mount Pleasant, McNab, Patmos, Bright Star, Millwood, Hervey,
Homan, Pine Prairie, Piney Grove and Red Bluff.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
