Sparks Fly Patriotic Costume Contest winners named Saturday

Among the many events and activities that were part of Sparks Fly in July, one of the most visually arresting was the costume contest, as more than a dozen adults and kids put on their red, white and blue (or historical) getups and lined up in front of the stage for judges to appraise their apparel.

We were there to take their photos and talk with the adult winner.

In second place among those aged up to 14 was a young lady who gave her name as Hartley, who is seen below hearing the news from Hope Parks Commission Superintendent Summer Chambers, who announced the winners:

Then in first among the youngsters was Cameron, a toddler who nearly stole the show from the bands, the fireworks and everybody else:

Among the adults, second place was Ashley, who collected a $70 prize. She is seen at left in this still from the video we took.

Finally, as you may have already sussed out, Lukas Burke, a pastor from the Harrison/Jasper area took home first place for his George Washington impression, the $120 prize and first in the hearts of his country. He stands to Ashley's right, in the middle of our still.

Video of the contest can be seen here.
