Tate, Jackson Officially Sign Letters of Intent to University of Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE - Guard Jalen Tate of Pickerington, Ohio via Northern Kentucky University and forward Vance Jackson of Pasadena, Calif. via the University of New Mexico officially signed letters of intent Wednesday morning to become graduate transfers to the University of Arkansas and join Coach Eric Musselman’s Razorbacks.

Tate and Jackson each have this upcoming 2020-2021 season of Arkansas eligibility. As signees for this 2020-2021 class, they join 6-4 incoming instate freshman point guard Devontae Davis of Jacksonville who signed during the November early signing period .Three incoming instate freshmen, forward Jaylin Williams of Fort Smith Northside, point guard Khalen “KK” Robinson of Bryant via Oak Hill (Va.) Academy and shooting guard Moses Moody of Little Rock Parkview via Monteverde (Fla.) Academy, have verbally committed to sign during the April 15-Aug. 3 signing period, but had not been UA announced as signing early Wednesday afternoon.

Tate, a 6-6 shooting guard/small forward, was named the 2020 Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and made the Horizon League All-Defensive team all three seasons lettering at Northern Kentucky following a medical redshirt freshman season in 2016-2017. During the 2019-2020 season for the 23-9 Northern Kentucky Norse, Tate averaged 13.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals.Jackson, 6-9, played 32 games, starting 21, as a University of Connecticut freshman in 2016-2017 and was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie team.

Jackson transferred to the University of New Mexico redshirting in 2017-2018. Starting the last two seasons at New Mexico, Jackson averaged 13.1 points and 7.0 rebounds in 2018-2019 and, after missing the season’s first five game with a knee injury, averaged 11.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in 2019-2020.
