The Call Mall will be a new 12 X 20 foot storage building placed just behind The Call’s headquarters. This building will allow for the storage of donated items families need. Right now these items are outgrowing a storage room and staffers are rapidly running out of room for them at their homes. A new storage building would make these items available to families in one convenient place as they begin to take children in.
As The Call Program Coordinator Holli Boyett explains it, “The Call Mall is a place for families impacted by foster care to shop for FREE for the needs of the children in their homes. The Call Mall houses items such as beds, baby gear and hygiene items that are needed in order for a family to say ‘Yes!’ at a moment’s notice for a new placement.”
The storage will also allow The Call to accept more donated items for its growing number of foster families and for donors to drop off items at one location. Often children arrive in foster homes with little other than the clothes on their backs. The availability of donated items enables The Call to better address the needs of these children.
To raise the $12,000 needed to purchase and place the building, The Call needs your help. “The Call receives no state or federal funding, so we literally can’t do this work without the help of our donors,” Boyett said.
If the funds can be successfully raised, The Call plans to purchase a cabin-style portable building to serve as The Call Mall. The building will go behind the current office and meeting space which is located at 114 South Main inside the historic Martindale Clinic in the Charitable Christian Medical Clinic.
