The Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce hosted a community coffee this morning for the Prescott Police Department. Many gathered at the department to visit with citizens and officers while enjoying a spread of both savory and sweet snacks along with coffee and punch to wash it all down.

"This is a great way for us to meet members of the community, fellowship with them and let them know we are not here just to police them but to help them with their needs," Officer Casey Autry said.

Locals sat at tables as Chief of Police Ann Jordan welcomed and thanked everyone for coming out to join them. The PD has a great deal of projects going on right that they want to community to take part in and they were proud to let SWARK.Today know what is coming up.

Chief of Police, Ann Jordan talked about her excitement surrounding community events, "We have a lot here for the community that we are about to kick off. Officer Armstrong has a new Cops for Kids Program, she is going to school next week to take classes to be a Certified Car Seat Technician." With this new Certification the PD will be able to help new mothers install car seats properly so children are protected. Looking to the future, they hope to obtain donations of children's seats so they can provide those to the citizens of Nevada County. Another project they are working on is an Angel Tree for the children. They have already received a considerable amount of monetary donations from community members that will go towards this particular operation.

Executive Director of the Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, Jamie Hillery said, "I am just so pleased with the projects the Prescott Police Department is doing in our community. I am proud of how they stay involved and truly want to make our city a better place for the citizens here."
