Rusty Long, representative for Municipal Emergency Services, installed thermal scanners Aug. 13 at student and public entrances on each campus of the Hope Public Schools and HPS Transportation/Facilities Administrative Assistant Amber Keener activated the units. The scanners use digital scanning technology to record temperature as each student steps into the scan zone. Temperatures are recorded using a U.S. Food and Drug Administration range from 95.72 to 99.32 as acceptable, Long said. All students, faculty, staff and campus visitors will be required to undergo temperature screening at each HPS campus; and, face masks will also be required across all grades when classes begin Aug. 24. – Ken McLemore/Hope Public Schools
