Two Arrested for Attempted ATM Burglary
Friday morning, April 10, 2020, at about 4:52am Officer Michael Bryan was dispatched to an ATM alarm at Red River Federal Credit Union, 2345 Trinity Blvd., Texarkana, AR. When officer Bryan arrived at the credit union he observed a truck chained to the ATM and two black males hammering and prying on the ATM machine, both men were wearing hoodies and both took off running into the Woodline neighborhood upon Officer Bryan’s presence. Officer Bryan chased the two males on foot until he was able to pen them down in the backyard of a residence on Ramblewood. While searching one of two yards they were penned down in, Officer Bryan and Officer Robert Derrick located discarded clothing, a mask and a glove. When a shed door was opened in this back yard both suspects were found inside embracing one another. Both suspects were placed into police custody a that time. While walking the two suspects back to the patrol unit, Officer Bryan located several $50 dollar bills on the ground along the path the suspects fled. Several thousand more dollars was found in their clothing.

Texarkana, Arkansas Detectives were called to the scene. The investigation revealed that two trucks in the area of the ATM burglary had been stolen locally and used in the process of burglarizing the ATM. Treveyon VanKeith Dargin, 20 yoa, and a second juvenile are believed to be a part of a larger criminal organization that ties back to Houston, Texas. Both men arrested are from Houston, Texas and the method in which this crime was committed leads Investigators to believe that these men are at least part of the same criminal organization that burglarized other local ATM machines this year. Other State and Federal law enforcement officers have been made aware of our local arrests and a large scale investigation is ongoing.

Both subjects in this theft have been charged with Theft of Property Over $25,000, 2 counts of Theft of Property Over $5,000 (stolen trucks), Criminal Attempt Theft of Property Over $5,000, Criminal Mischief 1st degree, and Engaging in a Continuing Criminal Gang, Organization, or Enterprise, all charges are varying degree felonies. The juvenile arrested in the case will be certified as an adult and charged accordingly, until that time his identity cannot be released.
