FAYETTEVILLE -- On Sunday, Arkansas saw two commitments come off its list of players expected to sign with them.

The early signing period begins Wednesday. Arkansas currently has 21 high school commitments and three transfers.

Eudora (Kan.) four-star tight end Jaden Hamm, 6-7, 235, and Fayetteville (Ga.) Whitewater three-star defensive tackle Stephen Johnson decommitted. Johnson took a visit to Auburn and committed to the Tigers. Hamm was at Kansas for an official visit and said he will announce a decision in the coming week.

Hamm had been committed to Arkansas since Aug. 14, 2021. But Dowell Loggains, his key recruiter, left to take the offensive coordinator job at South Carolina. Johnson had committed to Arkansas earlier this summer on June 26.

The Razorbacks hosted former Pitt defensive end John Morgan III, 6-2, 265, for an official visit this weekend. He enjoyed the visit and will decide soon after the upcoming national championship game in college football. He's down to Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Colorado.

“It was really nice,” Morgan said. “I got time to spend with coach Glitch (Keith Jones), coach Deke (Adams) and I like coach (Sam) Pittman a lot. He’s a great guy. He talked about the new DC hire. The guy came from UCF and he told me they want me to be an integral part of the defense. They want me to play the jack position and get after the quarterback and really change the program around.”

In 2022, Morgan had 19 tackles, 13 solo, five for loss, three sacks and forced two fumbles. In his career, Morgan had 72 tackles, 49 solo, 23 for loss, 14.5 sacks, two pass breakups and three forced fumbles. He was a redshirt senior at Pitt this season so he will have one year of eligibility at his new school.
