HOPE/TEXARKANA, AR – July 16, 2026
The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana has launched a new Certificate of Proficiency in Artificial Intelligence (AI) designed to help students and working professionals build practical skills for a rapidly changing workplace.
The 12-credit-hour certificate provides a structured introduction to artificial intelligence technologies, data science, and professional communication. No previous experience in artificial intelligence is required.
Artificial intelligence is transforming how organizations operate, make decisions, and create value. From data analysis and automation to decision support and generative AI systems, these technologies are becoming part of everyday work across nearly every industry.
The Certificate of Proficiency in Artificial Intelligence introduces students to AI concepts, data analysis, and the responsible use of emerging technologies. The program combines foundational communication skills, data science fundamentals, and applied artificial intelligence coursework to prepare students for an evolving technology landscape.
The certificate is designed for students and working professionals who want to develop practical knowledge of artificial intelligence and data technologies while gaining skills they can apply immediately in the workplace. It also provides a strong foundation for students interested in continuing into additional technology programs such as cybersecurity or information technology, or pursuing careers in emerging technology fields.
The program is designed for a broad range of learners, including students interested in technology careers, working professionals seeking to build AI literacy, individuals preparing for careers in data, automation or analytics, business professionals exploring AI adoption, and adult learners seeking to reskill or upskill.
Students who complete the certificate will develop foundational knowledge in artificial intelligence technologies, data science, ethical AI implementation, and technology communication and collaboration.
These skills can support career pathways in technology-enabled roles such as data analysis, automation support, digital transformation initiatives, and AI-assisted business operations. Knowledge of artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly valuable across industries, including business, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, finance, marketing, and government.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the future of work, professionals who understand how AI systems function and how they can be used responsibly will be better prepared to succeed in a technology-driven economy.
