Wadley Breast Health Center Earns ACR Accreditation
Texarkana, Texas / August 13, 2024-The Breast Health Center at Wadley Regional Medical Center has been awarded another three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology® (ACR®). Mammography is a specific type of imaging test that uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts. Mammograms are one of the most important tools to help detect breast cancer. Having a screening mammogram every year increases the chance of detecting even the smallest cancer when it is most treatable. "For years, the Wadley Breast Center has been a leader in breast imaging and diagnosis and has proudly brought many firsts to the Texarkana area such as breast MRI, outpatient breast biopsies and sentinel node mapping," says Dr. Doug Trippe, medical director for the Wadley Breast Health Center. "We have a skilled team of registered technologists who are specially trained to ensure quality images that are used to diagnose breast cancer." The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific requirements based on ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported back to the facility and provide the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.
