Water rate increase approved by Emmet City Council
The main agenda item for the September meeting of the Emmet City Council, which took place Thursday September 19th was a proposal to increase water rates to $9.32 for the second 1,000 gallons used, with the rate for the first thousand gallons remaining at $23. Mayor Dale Booker said this increase is needed to comply with health department regulations and to keep up with the cost of producing clean water.

The meeting can be seen in its entirety in the video below this story.

Other matters discussed included whether homeowners and city governments will need to pay for the replacement of their water service lines, filling in a budget shortfall with $4,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funds (approved by the council), pausing a plan to convert the empty Emmet school building to a private school, acquiring materials to store old city records (approved by the council) and the possible creation of a more visible road to Fireman's Park Pavilion.

Deanna Allen of Emmet Vision Association announced the group will be holding a yard sale October 6th and 7th near Highway 67 Gas and Grill.
