The Hope Police Department is investigating a shooting and homicide that occurred Friday night, July 17, 2026.

At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, officers with the Hope Police Department responded to a residence in the 1000 block of West 7th Street in reference to a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male and a juvenile female suffering from gunshot wounds. The adult male was identified as Gabriel Trujillo Garcia, 21, of Paris, Texas. Garcia was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The juvenile female was transported to a medical facility, where she is receiving treatment for her injuries.

Investigators are working diligently to gather evidence and determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. The investigation remains active, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
