Rose Mimms announces she is ‘stepping aside’ from leadership role at Arkansas Right to Life after 30-plus years

LITTLE ROCK – Rose Mimms, executive director of Arkansas Right to Life (ARTL), has begun  the process of stepping down from her leadership role.

Mimms asked the ARTL Board of Directors at its Feb. 1 meeting to initiate the search for her  successor. She was hired in April of 1993 as office manager and after a few years was promoted  to executive director of the organization, a title she has held for 30 years. Mimms is widely  respected as the face and voice of ARTL and the pro-life movement in Arkansas.

“I have always considered this work as a mission from God and though I’m stepping aside as the  director, my role at Arkansas Right to Life will change as the new director assumes leadership,” said Mimms. “I don’t call it retiring. I will be able to focus on special projects, including traveling the state supporting and developing Arkansas Right to Life regional chapters.”

Mimms added, “It is comforting for me, as I step to the side, to know that our organization is in  good hands with our new board President Dr. Sharai Amaya (OB/GYN) and the new executive  director we know the Lord will provide.”

Wayne Mays, vice president and immediate past president, is serving as chairman of an executive director search committee. A succession timeline has been established for Dec. 31,  2025.

Mays said the search committee is now accepting resumes from applicants. Interested individuals  must have a heart for the pro-life mission and a history of being involved in the pro-life  movement. Resumes should include at least three work-related and character references.  Inquiries should be emailed to [email protected]

Arkansas Right to Life, the state’s oldest and largest pro-life organization, is an affiliate of the National  Right to Life Committee, the leading voice of the voiceless dedicated to protecting all human beings  threatened by abortion, infanticide, and euthanasia.
