David Brooks Rider,70, died Thursday, February 25, in Texarkana. David was born in Hope, Arkansas, on December 12,1950 to Dorothy Brooks Rider and Fairrel Rider. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard Rider, and one nephew Christopher Rider.
Survivors include his wife Kay Rider of Patmos, son Adam Rider and wife Katie of Hope, daughter Kayla Dorman and husband Gary of Patmos, three grandsons Luke Rider, Owen Dorman, and Barrett Dorman, two bonus grandchildren Maci Dorman and Logan Dorman of Texarkana. Other family members are sister-in-law, Susan Rider and mother-in-law, Betty Moses, both of Spring Hill, niece Morgan Fox, and nephews Derek Rider and Scott Eggleston.
David attended school at Patmos and Hope. After graduating with the HHS class of 68, David attended Southern State College (nowSAU) in Magnolia. He worked as a pipeline technician in measurements for Centerpoint Energy for 30 years.
David loved his family, music, and his beloved Chesapeake Bay Retriever, PupPup. After retirement, David enjoyed taking his grandsons on adventures on the tractor or four-wheeler, watching YouTube videos on how to build things, and working in his shop.
Graveside services will be Saturday, March 6, at 2 :00 p.m.at the Macedonia Cemetery with Kenneth Bobo officiating. No formal visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis or other favorite charity.
