David Brown

David Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at his home Saturday September 17, 2022.

Dave leaves behind his wife Joyce Brown of 51 years, his daughters Molly Streeter Smith and Christine Fuller; grandchildren Hazel Streeter, Amberlee Smith, Ruby Streeter, Jaden Fuller, Chloe Fuller, great grandson Tyler, and son-in-law Christopher Smith. Dave was affectionately known to friends and loved ones as “Butchie Boy,” “Buffalo,” “Poppy,” “Papa,” and “Old Man.” David Brown was a man of faith and served the Lord all his life.

He started his career in the United States Army and served as a military police officer for 12 years. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Dave grew up with Rock and Roll and never lost his passion for 1950s-era Chevys, finally acquiring a 1956 Chevy showstopper he deemed “Peggy Sue.” When Dave proposed to his wife, he took her to a car dealership and simply said, “Pick one.” That 1971 Mustang is still and will always be part of the family.

After his service in the military, Dave and Joyce raised their daughters in Bloomfield, New Mexico. He raced cars with the number 7’11 always plastered on them--the weight of each of his daughters at their birth.  Even though he was a Motor City native, he patiently helped his family own and show quarter horses.

Dave never missed a parent-teacher conference, football game, band competition or, later on, college basketball game with his family.   His daughters’ friends he quickly absorbed into the fold with advice, laughter, and love. His pleasure in life was to provide for his family, to rebuild classic cars, and to spend time with his beloved dog Sue. Dave Brown was a kind, strong, humorous man of character. He leaves behind his church family at Mt. Nebo of Patmos Church and Pastor Bruce Porter. His absence will be greatly felt.

Services will be held on Friday September 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Brazzel Funeral Home in Hope.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave’s name to Disabled Veterans of America.

No family visitation is planned at this time.

Funeral services are under the direction of BRAZZEL/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope, Eddie Brazzel director. www.brazzelfuneralhomes.com
