Dorothy D. Brown Atkins

Dorothy D. Brown Atkins was born November 13, 1938 in Sutton, Arkansas to the late Edward and Sarah Jones.  Dorothy departed life on February 13, 2021, at Heather Manor Nursing Home in Hope, Arkansas. She became a Christian at an early age and begun her work in Christ’s kingdom in Providence Baptist Church, Azar, Arkansas.

She was especially loyal to her family never refusing a task because she was too busy or too tired. She had a very loving and caring spirit that radiated from her and gave light to whomever came in fellowship with her.  She loved her family and friends but expressed a deep affection for children especially, caring for them as her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Willie, Percy Lee and Leo Jones; one sister, Martha Jenkins and her husbands, Ira Brown and Milton Atkins.

Dorothy was a retired cook in the public school system in the area where she resided.

She was a member of Providence Full Gospel Church until her health failed.

To cherish her memory, she leaves: one brother, Henry A. Jones(Carrie) of Hope, AR, 

sister-in laws, Josie Mae Jones of Texarkana, Texas, and Nellie Jean Jones of Hope, AR; two special nieces, Nellie Ann Monk of Hope, AR and Barbara Bishop of Manhattan, Kansas, a special cousin, Robert Jones of Rosston, AR and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 21, 2021, 1:00p.m.

Hicks Funeral Home Chapel, 407 South Hazel, Hope, Arkansas 71801. Burial will be at Azar Cemetery in Azar. Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
